SoundForest is a self-initiated project and interactive music composition app designed to make songwriting playful, intuitive, and visually engaging. The app allows users to compose songs by arranging a collection of over 160 animated “musical creatures,” each representing a different sound or instrument. The visual style draws inspiration from the geometric nature illustrations of Charley Harper, paired with the expressive simplicity of emoji design, resulting in an interface that feels both modern and approachable.

Developing SoundForest from concept to launch was an exciting creative and technical challenge. I designed the user interface, art direction, and overall experience, collaborating with developers to bring the idea to life on iOS. Since its release, SoundForest has continued to grow in popularity, finding an unexpected audience within music education as a tool for introducing composition and pattern-based learning. It’s been rewarding to see the app reach new users and inspire creativity around the world.
